First Ten Years of the ICF
The
ICF was founded by Bill Porter in 1991. We can be proud of our
achievements in the battle to shape media that merit public confidence. We
have produced our 42 page Ten Year Report, with an account of every Forum
held in our first ten years, together with comments from founding

WAR REPORTING -
WHERE DOES A JOURNALIST’S DUTY LIE?

The conference will
cover issues raised by war reporting, with a particular though not
exclusive focus on exploitation for good or bad of material disseminated
through new media sources, and the way journalists respond to these
challenges.
CAUX 2008
Caux, Switzerland, 18-23
July
This year there will
be no specific ICF participation in any of the Caux conferences. However, our President, Bernard
Margueritte and Founder President Bill Porter will be attending the
conference on Addressing the Root Causes of Human Insecurity from
18 to 23 July, and we hope ICF supporters will be able to join them. The number of participants in this
conference will be limited, so you should submit your application as soon
as possible through the Initiative of Change web site at www.caux.ch.

LEADING JOURNALISTS SHARE ‘HONEST
ACCOUNTS’ WITH STUDENTS OF MEDIA ETHICS
February 2008
Over 150 media students
deepened their understanding of ethical issues when they took part in a
Media Ethics Workshop at the Lincoln University School of Journalism on
11 February, organised by the International Communications Forum at the
invitation of Richard Keeble, Professor of Journalism.

APPOINTED ICF VICE PRESIDENT
July 2007
Malgorzata Bonikowska, president of the newly formed
Polish Chapter of the ICF, was appointed a Vice President of the ICF at
the ICF Assembly held in Caux,
Switzerland
in July 2007.

GREAT FRIENDS OF THE ICF
We report the deaths of Torben Krogh, ICF Vice
President, and Tom Gillespie, veteran Australian journalist and long time
ICF supporter.
KEY APPOINTMENTS
IN THE USA
July 2007
Two
members of the ICF’s U.S. Chapter received key appointments
recently. Alan Kania of Denver,
secretary-treasurer, was appointed chairman of the International
Committee of the Society of Professional Journalists. Bob Webb, an ICF Vice President and
chair of its U.S.
chapter, was installed as president of the Washington, D.C.
Pro Chapter of SPJ.
